GENERAL NOTES
(1) Service is generally for a three-year period.
(2) Where a person has been serving an "appointed" period of service to replace someone who has resigned then the election is for the remainder of the original unexpired term only.
(3) For a very few committees there are additional restrictions on candidacy specified in the statutes; the Nominating Committee will ensure that these restrictions are met.
(4) The current records of these committees show some periods of present service as less than three years. This occurs because of a transition made from two years service to three years service (in 1998); the staggered and irregular service periods are related to the transitional arrangements.
(5) No person may serve more than two consecutive terms as an elected member of a committee. No person may serve on more than two committees. Persons elected to the Executive Board may not serve on a committee and must be replaced when elected.
B. ELECTIONS TO THE GENERAL FACULTY ASSEMBLY AND TO THE ACADEMIC SENATE.
These are generally handled internally by individual units.
Colleges: On or about April 1, 2000 the Secretary of the Faculty contacts the Chairs of Schools (or the Dean in the case of Colleges without Schools) with instructions on how to perform the elections and the number of vacant positions.
GTRI : On or about April 1, 2000 the Secretary of the Faculty contacts the Administrative Office of this unit with instructions on how to perform the elections and the number of vacant positions.
Administration and Central Services: Elections for this group are performed by the Secretary of the Faculty (SoF) and with the supervision of the Executive Board. On or about February 1, 2000 the SoF solicits names of interested persons and nominations from various constituencies of this group. An election ballot is created and sent with the ballots for standing committees (on or about March 1 2000). The broad arrangements for this group will follow the procedure decided by the EB on March, 1999 which is given on the web site:
